Fridah Ndinda, the Tujiamini Eastern Gold Winner, has once again proven why she is a rising star in Kenyan athletics. Competing in the highly anticipated Joburg 10km race, Ndinda emerged victorious in the women’s category, finishing with an impressive time of 33:57.
The race, which drew over 8,000 participants, is renowned for its challenging hilly terrain. Ndinda’s performance not only demonstrated her exceptional talent but also highlighted her determination and resilience, especially on a course described by many as demanding.
Speaking after the race, Ndinda expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete and reflected on the unique challenges of the course. “The route was hard for sure, it has many hills and downhills, but I enjoyed it. The weather was good; it wasn’t hot, which made it easier to push myself,” she said.
This isn’t Ndinda’s first brush with success, recently she ran second in the Nairobi City Marathon 10km event, while a few weeks back she won the Ndukuma Dam 15km Cross Country Run in Makueni County. Fridah has been hoping her form in Kenya could translate on to the international stage, which she has rightfully proven with her recent win.
Her victory in Joburg also reflects the growing impact of the Tujiamini by SportPesa initiative, which supports grassroots talent and helps athletes showcase their abilities globally. Ndinda’s journey, from her Eastern Gold win to becoming a champion on the continent, is a testament to what can be achieved with determination and the right support.
As the athletics season continues, all eyes will remain on Ndinda as she represents Kenya and Tujiamini in inspiring the next generation of athletic athletes. With her strong work ethic and the backing of initiatives like Tujiamini, she’s showing the world the incredible potential of Kenyan talent.
