In a celebration of talent and perseverance, Nairobi Sub County side Megastars FC emerges as the second winner of the prestigious Cheza Dimba Award, under the Tujiamini initiative powered by leading online gaming firm SportPesa.

The Kahawa based side join grass-roots side Kimilli’s Rockstars FC in receiving the prestigious 3-year sponsorship package. Megastars FC compete in the FKF Nairobi East Subcounty League, an overly competitive league filled with young talents hoping to display their skills and pick up selection into the bigger sides playing out of Nairobi and Central regions.

With a player and coaching staff comprised of university students Megastars FC understand the battles involved in overcoming financial hurdles. They have been struggling in recent times to afford field facilitation fees as well as paying FKF and referee fees, not to mention getting basic equipment for training. The newfound recognition and support from Tujiamini will provide a beacon of hope for their ambitious dreams of gaining promotion through FKF leagues. The students are hoping the sponsorship will enable them to formalise as a club, introducing structures and checks and balances to ensure the Tujiamini rewarded funds are used to help the club achieve their dreams.

On Tuesday, SportPesa and DBA Africa representatives surprised the team by showing up to training to award the new playing kit and speak with the players. Team Captain Shikote Nelson could not stop smiling whiling being presented the kit “We are very happy with the kit Tujiamini has given us, we never had Home and Away sets before and when the rest of the teams see us in our new kit, they’ll know we are a big team.”

DBA Africa representative Pius Shiundu commented how fantastic it is to see the smiles and positive vibes around the club. “Naturally we know that this is a big deal for community and university sides playing in regional leagues as sponsorship for bigger sides is hard enough to come by, the fact that through us talents at the grassroots level are being recognised hopefully inspires those sides that are struggling and are thinking the obstacles ahead of them are too big, too keep training hard and playing week in week out. Tujiamini”.

At the end of the year, Tujiamini’s Cheza Dimba will have 12 sides from across 10 separate regions in Kenya flying the flag for Tujiamini, with an additional 12 joining them in 2025. The goal is to see that with support Clubs can achieve their goals, empowering not just players, but fans and the community surrounding the club.

As Megastars FC celebrate their new status, their journey serves as an inspiration for student athletes facing similar challenges. The SportPesa initiative's focus on investing in the future of sports and talent will create a lasting impact on the lives of young athletes striving to make a mark not just on the football field, but across all disciplines and talents.

Football teams wanting to apply for Cheza Dimba must submit an application followed by a short video showcasing their talents, facilities and dreams as a club, shortlisted applicants will then be invited to playoff in a Tujiamini tournament where the overall winner will be crowned with a 3 year sponsorship worth annually250,000KSH as well as new home and away kit every year.
