Maua Talanta Studio, a collective of musicians, producers, DJs, comedians, and content creators from Maua Town, has been named the Eastern Region Tujiamini Gold Award winner, securing a Ksh 1 million grant through the TujiaminiSportPesa’s initiative.
Founded in 2017, Maua Talanta began as a vision to give local creatives access to quality production services without the burden of traveling over 60km to Meru Town or Nairobi. Registered as a Self-Help Group in 2018, the team faced challenges such as lack of equipment, studio space, and funding.
In June 2025, the group learned about the SportPesa’s Tujiamini initiative,a program that supports grassroots talent with funding and visibilityand took a chance by sharing their story. Their dream resonated, earning them the Gold Award and the resources to transform their studio.
“This award was a game-changer for us. It gave us the tools, confidence, and credibility to grow. It’s proof that grassroots talent matters — and when supported, it can thrive,” said Frankline, Maua Talanta Studio spokesperson
